LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT RESOURCES
As a library system, it is our duty to not only acknowledge the land that we live, work, and play on, but to center indigenous folks and to encourage further learning. Below you will find a few resources about land acknowledgments. We encourage you to do your own research and to find your own way to acknowledge the original stewards of the land that we live, work, and play on.
No land acknowledgment that we write should, or could, replace the words of actual indigenous people.
Native Land — a resource to learn more about indigenous territories, languages, lands, and ways of life.
A Guide to Indigenous Land Acknowledgment — from the Native Governance Center.
Honoring Original Indigenous Inhabitants: Land Acknowledgment — from the Smithsonian Institute.
And of course, we recommend you check out all of the resources in the KCLS collection!
